The Pie Patch is a pick-your-own farm operated by Breanne Heath, growing perennial fruits and annual vegetables traditionally used in pies: strawberries, apples, pears, plums, raspberries, rhubarb, apricots, peaches, pumpkin, and concord grapes.
I believe in:
-growing to organic standards and incorporating some biodynamic principles
-cultivating habitat and forage for pollinators
-creating truly healthy soil
-growing without pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides (even ones approved for organic use)
-affordable, healthy food for our neighborhood
-our community
The Pie Patch is open weekly for u-pick hours as fruits and vegetables are ready. Please check below, on Facebook, or call ahead of time. Cost is based on container size.
The site has been a farm and garden in Chicago for nearly 30 years, benefitting from years of community groups and individuals creating healthy soil, planting a variety of beneficial plants and encouraging diverse insect, bird and microbial life.
Private tours may be arranged by appointment and may cost on a per person basis for large groups. Special events may also be scheduled at the farm. Contact me for more information.
